An Italo-Chinese Covid-19 donation project

A good practice brought by ALDA's member association Le cose che vanno international.

ALDA ambassador Mirko Marangione, President of ALDA member association “Le cose che vanno international”, reports on the crowdfunding initiative he embarked on with several Italo-Chinese organizations in the aim of supporting the Italian health system in the current fight against Covid-19.

At the beginning of March 2020, Le cose che vanno international started and developed a collaboration with Italo-Chinese associations AssocinaICPN - Italian Chinese Professional NetworkCCSA - Cattolica Chinese Students Association, BCSA - Bocconi Chinese Student AssociationIBC - Italian Born Chinese and WoShou to support their initiative aimed at collecting fonds to supply health sanitary equipment as donations destined to the "Protezione Civile Italiana", which in turn would then distribute them to the Italian hospitals following an order of priority, based on the specific needs of each hospital.

The Italian Civil Protection is in fact the only legal governmental body that has the right to distribute medical equipment, hence this choice of partnership that would allow to reach the maximum possible number of hospitals.

Two months after our ALDA member joined this worthy initiative, we are happy to share that the money collected both in Italy and in China most recently helped purchasing 5,300 surgical masks for a total worth of 4,849.50, which were delivered to the Italian Civil Protection of Bologna

The first collected amount was instead dedicated to the Lombardy region, as the most affected region in Italy: thanks to this crowdfunding campaign, the regional Italian Civil Protection there was given 2700 FFP2 masks for an estimated value of 9,882!

It should be noted that two doctors from Wuhan, China were of great support to the initiative in terms of collecting funds there; as well as many entities in Italy which contributed to spreading the word, including ALDA itself.

Information on the ongoing fundraising campaign can be found here.

The Emilia-Romagna region has praised this initiative and expressed their gratitude towards the coalition's efforts in providing necessary aid to the medical sector in such crucial times.  One more sign that together, we're stronger.
