ALDA and the European Movement [France] connected to face the crisis

In response to this unprecedented global challenge, on March 27th ALDA held a webinar alongside with the European Movement [France] (ME-F) with the aim to highlight how the civil society is facing the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. 

The debate was a precious opportunity to share different opinions and perspectives, as well as a valuable occasion to better understand how organizations which operate with a similar framework to ALDA's should act in an attempt to get some positive outcomes from this crisis.

To begin with, the debate outlined the crucial importance of maintaining a high level of communications with the European Institutions. Undoubtedly, these uncertain times have shown that the art of negotiation has become, more than ever, the key to surviving. Indeed, several proposals were advanced by ALDA to the European Commission in the past few weeks; proposals that inevitably require a certain kind of flexible approach from the European Institutions since they concern aspects such as project delays, re-modulating activities and cofounding adaptation.

Another important aspect that was outlined during the debate was about the disruption of community engagement. As a matter of fact, the reconnection with the European citizens will necessarily take time as well as good communication strategy. In conclusion, it became increasingly clear that this crisis is impacting all of us, and only by developing a strong sense of community we will be able to tackle it and grow even stronger.
